We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the right one. They weighed storage capacity as well as layout and energy efficiency, among other factors.

The name of the series suggests that GE’s Profile series is aimed at people who want to integrate cutting-edge features in their kitchens. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is a premium, I expect higher quality.

Apart from that minor flaw the fridge is a fantastic choice. It has a large freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Additionally, it holds a fair amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models.

The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a fridge with a French door at this price. It has a decent-sized freezer in the left side. However it's not the most spacious one I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a the perfect storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is attractive, too. The LED lighting is a nice addition and the inside storage bins come with the third shelf, which folds up beneath itself to allow you to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls that allow you to set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and shut, but I found the textured plastic coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator comes with the complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price that includes Wi-Fi as well as app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and offers a ton of customization options. It will also send you notifications when the door is unlocked, when the freezer or fridge requires defrosting, and when the filter requires a change.

It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill it's an option in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to dispense simultaneously. It also has a countdown feature on the display of the fridge to display how much water have left, but it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to appear like a seamless piece in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also boasts a veggie compartment to keep vegetables and fruits fresher for longer and dual compressors for the best food preservation. The Ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and makes an ice pyramid with only a little water. This fridge is ideal for a single household or a kitchenette with an elegant design and top of the highest quality food preservation.

This fridge was rated the best in our Refrigerators Test for several reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at a level that was just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never changing more than a fraction a degree--this is key to preventing freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, reaching the temperature that was set for the initial setting within an hour and keeping the temperature constant over the course of our tests.

Bosch is known for its top-of-the-line appliances and appliances, so it's not a surprise that this counter depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option to connect to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely on your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is pricey, but offers great features and functionality at a fair price.

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who need a lot of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge features a standard French door design, and two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set crisper drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded in order to create more space for taller items. There's also a full-width storage drawer for products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

The refrigerator comes with an ice maker making it easy to transfer the ice when needed. The freezer also features clever design features, such as sliding drawers that can help you organize your belongings. It also has a large bin that can hold plenty of frozen food and an additional ice storage bin.

Another great feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a simple way to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, particularly when you're not at home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily enhance the efficiency of the fridge. In fact it took a bit longer to defrost and chill food in this fridge than some of the others we tried.  french door fridge and freezer  could be due to its larger capacity.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. The handles with a sunken design let shorter people open them from the bottom. However taller people struggle to close them without slamming. It would have been better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a good option for those looking to combine the benefits of a French-door fridge's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is higher than average for a counter-depth model and it cools evenly and has a great layout. It's also less expensive than the most expensive counter depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, making it a great option.

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't break the bank, this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking in appearance like some of the competitors however it comes with enough features to make it a good option. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also comes with a huge ice maker as well as a water dispenser.

This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge's internal temperature.

The Frigidaire FGHB2866PF's exterior is constructed of stainless steel with a grey body with a "smudge-proof" finish. It wards off streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've seen.
